Maybe but in reality I am stood on a pretty public lane here. The fence had no real ends. Maybe it was the edge of one of the many old quarries that were around here (Quarrying for the reservoir dam stone.)

Lovely colors, Herb. It seems like a pretty rocky gully. Could the fence have been meant to prevent or slow boulders from rolling down into the pastures? It looks like it was a fairly sturdy fence, though it has clearly seen better times.

A very nice picture, of these old fences.

There are a lot f these in Wales too. Mostly to stop the sheep straying too far, if the sheep are ever in the area!!
