In these days of self-isolation we can reminisce on our past adventures and holidays through our photos that we have carefully preserved (haven't we!). Here is an example of a trip taken some 35 years ago now.

Taken on one of Interlaken's two lakes, Switzerland in 1985 whilst on a skiing holiday in nearby Wengen. This is Lake Brienz on a very cold winters day.

Original on a 35mm slide. Originally in Panoramio. (PiP shows the nearby Eiger a year or so later)

Thank you Lutz, glad you liked it.

I have an old Epson 1660 scanner that has an additional slide adapter. Unfortunately it does nor work on my Windows 10 PC as there are no drivers for that. Fortunately I though still have an older PC with Windows 7 and so I can use it with that OK. I have to transport the finished jpg to the more modern PC afterwards for editing.

Totally beautiful Herb. I have been scanning sides from the 70's. They seem to scan very well.

Good to see you Rosa. Yes, by scanning your slides you still have access to all those memories. I found that many of my slides had faded somewhat towards a magenta colour and so that needed some correction. I believe the more modern purpose built scanners can do that on-the-fly. Have fun - a well worthwhile project. I scanned just over 10,000 slides! What!!!!

Wow! I don't think I have that many. I do them in fits and starts. Most are from the 60's onward and were taken by my father. Happy scanning ;-))

Absolutely stunning Image Herb your slides have survived very well. We stayed in Wengn in the summer of 1990 my slides did not survive thanks for the memories.

Thanks Toz. This and my others were scanned in 2012/13 and they were beginning to fade even then. 10,000 slides done and so a lot of old memories here. The main problem is were I mixed them up in the boxes. Although some slides had faded dates stamped on the holders many did not. Without exif, I have some problems still. Glad this brought back memories of that fantastic area to you too. A link added now to my earlier Eiger shot too.

This is really beautiful Herb and the quality of the scan speaks volumes about the quality of the originals.

I love the blue tones and the reflections and especially those silhouetted tree branches. Excellent work!

Its really nice to know that I cannot go wrong with you Keith. A wonderful trip (one of three to Wengen in winter). To be walking around Interlaken in the cold snow was exhilarating and photographically wonderful. Glad you liked this slide. I was lucky with the quality of it by curtesy of my old Canon A1.

A lovely scene, Herb, and the PiP of the Eiger is marvellous. I began copying slides some years ago, but have been distracted. Maybe returning to it is a good project for this enforced stay at home at present.

Good to see you George. Yes it is a good project in these times of enforced captivity. I did mine shortly after retiring as I suddenly had time that I never had before. It took a few months to do my 10,000 or so but I am glad that I did them. Also very happy that you like these two Swiss scenes. A place now, not as popular with us Brits because of the high prices with the pound.

I too have been there, but never seen or photographed such a scene. Even if I saw it, I doubt I could match this photo anyway... I am very impressed!!
