Spring morning in Scotland

28 May 2021 38 61 301
This is the view from the bottom of our holiday cottage garden (and also the view from our large French windows.) Its early morning and the sight of the mist is broken only by the chirps and whistles of the many birds that inhabit this part of the Queen Elizabeth Forest. In fact a male Cuckoo calls forlornly in the distance. Enjoy full size and have a great week.

A promenade fence

Taken a few years back now, this splendid iron fence adorns the promenade of our Yorkshire coastal town of Filey. Over the years countless layers of white paint has been added onto this, to counter the constant salt spray, but as you can see the rust still prevails giving it an attractive look too. The top rail is in fact painted a very similar but darker rich ochre colour. In the distance one can see the headland of the famous Filey Brig. PiP shows Filey itself. HFF, enjoy the weekend.

A Chew fence

A refreshing look at one of the many gullies in the Chew Valley of Saddleworth . Why these fences are here, I can never understand as there is neither livestock nor bigger wild animals here. Probably just remnant’s of times gone by HFF, enjoy this Good Friday and Easter weekend.

Visions of Park Bridge: A fenced heritage

HFF wishes from the Park Bridge Country Park. We are just approaching the steep rocky valley, outlined in the series of photos before this. These fences stop people and animals venturing into the two small area’s which are in fact depressions in the ground with now covered deep holes, possibly caused by mining tunnel collapses as this was coal mining country. This at one time would have been a busy place but now it’s generally quite lonely. The trees are a new addition. HFF, enjoy your weekend

An Ennerdale Water dream

As one walks around this dream lake of our English 'Lake District' we come across this scene. A tonic for our minds and a photographers dream. Enjoy!

Costa Blanca fence

A trip to the Benidorm area of Spain can result in many surprises including the odd fence. Here we are walking along the path to the ‘Faro del Albir’ lighthouse on the rocky headland, looking towards Altea and Albir itself with the Sierra Bernia in the background. I wish you all, a great weekend, Herb Best viewed full screen.
