Im Bild eine typisch fränkische Szene: Ein Wegkreuz, eingerahmt von einer Baumgruppe und einer Bank zum Ausruhen. Solche Wegkreuze wurden gerne an Wegkreuzungen (auch zur Orientierung) aufgestellt. Sie kennzeichnen übrigens die katholischen Gebiete in Franken, in protestantischen findet man sie nur recht selten. Die urigen Bäume im Bild sind übrigens alte Robinien. Die Heimat der Distelfalter sind die subtropischen Steppengebiete Nordafrikas. Im Frühjahr beginnen die Falter nordwärts (über die Alpen!) zu wandern und erreichen sogar den hohen Norden Europas. Das ist richtig weltmeisterlich! Im Bild ein männlicher Falter an der Blüte einer Kratzdistel im leichten Gegenlicht. Der Zitronenfalter ist mit 10 - 11 Monaten Lebenszeit unser langlebigster Tagfalter. Von meiner kurzen Reise nach Berlin (Sohn, Schwiegertochter und Enkelchen besuchen) bin ich wieder zurück und möchte eine Reihe von Sommerbildern beginnen. Diese auffällige Skulptur befindet sich in Reykjavik an der nördlichen Küstenstraße Sæbraut. Aus Edelstahl bestehend, ähnelt sie einem Wikingerschiff und gehört zu den meist fotografierten Kunstwerken in Reykjavík. Unterschiedliche Licht- und Wetterverhältnisse sorgen für Abwechslung. ... ist eine moderne Kirche mit auffallendem und ausgefallenem Kirchturm, der überall in Reykjavik zu sehen ist und an dem man sich sehr gut in der Stadt orientieren kann. Im Innern besticht die Kirche durch ihre angenehme Helligkeit und klare Gliederung im neugotischen Stil (siehe PiPs). Eine Reitergruppe ist gerade dabei durch eine mächtige Wasserdampfwolke zu reiten, die aus einer heißen Quelle in der Nähe austritt. Im Geothermalpark Hveragerði befindet sich die sogenannte Todesquelle (88 °C). Sie erhielt ihren Namen durch einen tödlichen Unfall im Jahre 1906. Ein betrunkener Reisender fiel bei schlechter Sicht in den heißen Quelltopf. Obwohl es seinen Begleitern gelang ihn herauszuziehen, starb er am folgenden Tag. Heute ist die Quelle klein und und scheinbar. Die heiße Quelle in ihrer Nähe bricht immer wieder aus wie ein Geysier (s. PiP), wobei sich das Wasser der Todesquelle entleert. Kerið ist ein rund 6500 Jahre alter Krater in Island, der nördlichste in der Kraterreihe Tjarnarhólar. Das Oval misst rund 270 m mal 170 m, der Krater selbst ist 55 m tief. Die Wassertiefe des Teiches in der Mitte schwankt zwischen 7 und 14 m. Kerið liegt in einer vulkanisch aktiven Zone, die zu einem größeren Eruptionsgürtel gehört, und zwar dem Reykjanes-Langjökull Gebiet. Kerið steht mittlerweile unter Naturschutz, d.h. seine Schlacke darf nicht abgebaut werden. Die tiefblaue Farbe des Wassers ist eine ganz besondere Attraktion. In einer fast unnnatürlich blauen Farbe präsentiert sich der Greatnavatn, östlich von Reykjavik. Die Farbe wurde nicht mit Photoshop erzeugt! Typisch für Island: Kaum Pflanzen und Tiere, eine eigenartig karge Landschaft. The Greatnavatn, east of Reykjavik, presents itself in an almost unnatural blue colour.
