ANNA KRATZ
1837-1918
Austrian Soprano
She was the daughter of the actor and theater director Franz Arnold Kratz. As a child of nine she was already in Bonn on stage. In 1850 she began a career as Operetta soubrette in Amsterdam and Rotterdam, but then went to opera about 1851. She sang the coloratura and soubrette parts first in Bern and Basel, then she was at the Thalia Theater Hamburg until 1856 then she appeared in Riga in 1857. This was followed by engagements at the Friedrich-Wilhelm Municipal Theater Berlin and after 1860 at the Vienna Carl Theatre on. In 1861 she was appointed a professor at the Vienna Burgtheater, where she then began a great career as an actress
