Bustarfell

Bustarfell is a turf farm in East Iceland which has belonged to the same family since the 16th century. Methúsalem Methúsalemsson (sic!) sold the houses to the Icelandic National Museum in 1944, but the family continued living in it for many more years. The younger generation now live in a newly built farm nearby and the old house is a museum (see notes).

Bustarfell ist ein Torfhof in Ostisland, der seit dem 16. Jahrhundert von der selben Familie bewirtschaftet wird. 1944 verkaufte Methúsalem Methúsalemsson (sic!) das Haus an das Isländische Nationalmuseum, die Familie blieb aber noch lange Zeit darin wohnen. Die Jungen haben sich nebenan einen neuen Hof gebaut und der alte Hof ist heute ein Museum (s. PiPs)
