Ball Cactus

Lol, finally I have done it! I should have posted this photo many months ago to share with local fellow "botanizers", but kept putting it off because it is not the kind of image I enjoy - far too messy! However, it was a real treat to see a number of new plants that we had never seen before, on a very long day trip down to south eastern Alberta, to the Purple Spring Sand Dunes location, near Taber, on June 27th. I have to say that the area really didn't live up to its wonderful name, lol, as it was all flat ground except for one little patch of "sand dune", but it was an interesting place for plants. There was not a single cactus with open flowers, just these rather beautiful buds!
