The encounter

I know I've posted lots of Chickadee-on-hand photos before, but I liked the light in this one, and its little beady eye. I haven't taken one on my own hand for ages, though. The feel of those tiny, sharp claws is amazing and quite humbling, knowing that this is something wild that was "trusting" enough (or hungry!) to fly down to someone's hand. These little birds have their own personality, which is always amusing to see.
