clinging on

clinging on
A resilient tiny new plant makes the most of the scant resources to be found in the crumbling mortar between two bricks on an old wall.

Left to flourish and multiply overtime it could eventually take the structure down. Near where we live there is a deserted WW2 Airbase unused since the end of the war, including the huge runway there is hardly a square meter of concrete or tarmac to be seen.

la natura si riproduce ovunque - anche negli spazi piu' impervi! accattivanti trovo - oltre ai colori - anche i dettagli della struttura del muro e il contrasto luce-ombra!

Nice find and such an interesting choice for a plant to grow. I do love seeing the odd places a plant will grow, it can be such a surprise!

Thank you, everybody, for the stars and kind comments! I too like to see Nature's grit in the face of what sometimes looks like impossible odds. This is a tough little plant and might just barely manage to bloom and make seeds before the dry season deprives it of the little moisture it finds in this wall crack. Like Gabi and Laura, I particularly liked the colors here, as well as the little "vegetable story" it told :))
Have a great week ahead everyone. Tuscany heads into another lockdown on Monday and the whole of Italy will be under stay at home orders for Easter, but we are tough and we'll make it!
