intermodal transportation (PIP)

intermodal transportation (PIP)
Still waiting for my delayed train at the station of Prato - Porta al Serraglio, I noticed that someone must take their inter-modal transportation strategies pretty seriously. :))
In the pip: yellow line and rails abstract.

It's patiently waiting for the train..
The colors and light are gorgeous in this gray day
I really like railway stations ... it always reminds me of the multiple trips that have been made and yet to be made
Thanks, Annalia

Thank you, Judite. I agree. Railway stations are fascinating. I always find myself trying to imagine where passengers are going or coming from and the stories they carry with them. In this case I identified with the unknown owner of the bike, since I am very much a train + bike person myself.

Merci, Malik. Sometimes I think it's a good thing to be forced to slow down and study what is around you ... :D

Interesting shot Annalia, I think I would have left the bike pointing North/South instead of East/West, but there again it does balance the image with the overhead booms carrying the power lines.:-))

Thank you, HappySnapper. Train + bike is one of my favorite mode of transportation too, but I was rather surprized at this person's choice of parking location, especially since the train platform can only be accessed through a rather long flight of stairs. So I imagined the bike owner to be perhaps one of the students that attends the nearby University ... some young buck who wouldn't think much of carrying a bike up a flight of stairs! :D

Two beautifully composed images, Annalia. Finding some colour on a grey day was a bonus. :-)

Thank you, George. We have been having almost uninterrupted grey days and loads of rain since mid December. Even though Tuscany is doing a bit better as far as Covid is concerned so the restrictions have been eased a bit, people still tend to stay mostly at home.

Beautiful images. I like most the title-shot with the well placed bicycle and the beautiful colours and mood.

Thank you, Rainer. I am often fascinated by train stations and waiting for trains affords plenty of opportunities to look around for interesting images.

Somewhat inconsiderate! He could also have placed the bike in the longitudinal direction, then it would not block the platform. ;-))

Well ..., yes, a bit inconsiderate, but I'd rather take this kind of inconsiderate over the type that refuses to wear a mask in the middle of a pandemic ... What really perplexed me is that this is a small secondary station which has not yet been adapted for wheelchair access, so there is a rather long flight of stairs to reach the platform. The only thing I can figure is that perhaps the owner had meant to take the bike on the train but for some reason was unable to and decided to lock it up to the first available pole and jump on the train. I love this about stations, you can spend an inordinate amount of time imagining the stories of the criss-crossing lives that travel through them :D
Thanks for the comment on the pip. I was taken with the lines and textures.

Hi Annalia
A very nice picture, which I like very much!
Wonderful and interesting placement of the bicycle.. (You didn't move it for the picture did you!!!)
In England the wheels would have been nicked very quickly!!

Best Wishes, a nice weekend, and stay safe!!

The bike was locked onto the pole and could not be moved, I could only choose how to fit it in the shot and decided I liked using one of the yellow lines and the electrical wires on the other side as a sort of diagonal running across the image and placing the bike on the side. I am amazed it still had wheels myself ... It is not only in England that they disappear if they are not locked onto something! :))
Thank you for the visit, Peter, and have a great weekend!

I like both photos very much. I like to think of the bike as a traveller waiting patiently for its train.....
You made good use of your train trip and station visit......I hope that Covid is easing in your area, Annalia. And also that the weather is warming. A hug...Diana

Thank you for your concern, Diana. Tuscany is at present doing better than most of the other Italian regions (they are categorised as red, orange or yellow zones in order of decreasing gravity of the virus spread, and we are currently a Yellow Zone), but that is not to say that the virus has stopped spreading altogether. So I had to wear a high grade mask on the train (passengers are distanced and required to wear a mask, and surfaces are wiped down often, but still ...) and make sure I disinfected my hands often. By the time I got back home my hands were screaming for moisturiser!
Thank you for the visit and kind comment. Hope you are enjoying the weekend.
