man is what he reads
Another dated shot I took looking across the River Arno at the church of San Frediano, while a photographer and his daring subject ventured out on the Santa Rosa Milldam, probably going for a shot against the light of the westering sun.

Thank you, Judite. Actually, what looks like a path is really the rim of one of the dykes that hold back the flow of the river, creating these pools of still water (when it's very stilll it's great for reflections!). In ancient times, the dykes were probably constructed to force the water to spill out in one particular spot and run over the wheel of a mill. In fact, there's one of these dykes upstream where the structure of the flour mill is still standing (although converted to apartments). I have a picture of the mill somewhere. Will try to dig it out ...
