under the black walnut

under the black walnut
I was attracted by a beautifully yellow tree at the Cascine park. Under it, besides this medley of yellow leaves, I noticed large dark drupes that clearly contained a walnut-like nut. Took a bit of research online to figure out it's an ornamental black walnut.

Thank you, Jaap. This tree is as brightly yellow as the gingko (which at our latitudes is just now starting to turn into its fall livery).

A beautiful combination of colours, fabulously photographed.
I know the fruits of the black walnut, too. They have a fine scent of lemon.

Thank you H-Marie. I did not touch them (was afraid they would stain like the regular walnut drupes), but if I go by again, I'll be sure to check out the scent. Thanks for telling me!

Welcome to Ipernity Annalia. As I am a great lover of Autumn, I cannot but be happy seeing these leaves like this. Our garden is presently full of horse-chestnut Autumn dropped leaf's and they look quite different of course. Lovely colours and even patterns here. Well done.

Than you, Herb. I like to take note of what goes on under our feet. Sometimes it provides little homely but pleasing surprises!
