These abandoned parts of the old insane asylum complex could tell many stories, I am sure. Even after the insane asylums were abolished in Italy (in 1978 - I believe we are still the only country in the world to have completely abolished them), these buildings were reconverted into nursing homes for the elderly, until they became too obsolete. Now parts of the complex have been restored and used for different community purposes (gyms, offices, headquarters for non profit associations etc.) but some have been left untouched. They have a kind of melancholy appeal to me and, as you say, I feel they have a soul.

A decaying complex with so many stories to tell ..
No one wants to remember the past and even the huge tree was cut down...
