Castell Harlech

Castell Harlech
Remember the great victory in the battle of Rorke's Drift....

Men of Harlech stop your dreaming
Can't you see their spear points gleaming
See their warrior's pennants streaming
To this battle field.

Men of Harlech stand ye steady
It cannot be ever said ye
For the battle were not ready
Stand and never yield.

From the hills rebounding
Let this war cry sounding
Summon all at Cambria's call
The mighty force surrounding.

Men of Harlech onto glory
This shall ever be your story
Keep these fighting words before ye
Cambria (Welshmen never) will not yield".

Hi Andy, June, Steve, Amelia, Alan, Mareak, and Honza,

Thank you all so much for your visit to this historic castle, and for your kind words and thoughts. I am sorry that I have not been able to reply individually, but I have been away for a few days. At least I have come back with some more pictures to share!

Best Wishes to all of you.

This is a good angle of a shot Peter - I was lazy and snapped the castle from the road as we were passing - I looked on 'Street view' to try and find your position and the town Harlech looks well worth a visit - thanks for that - we'll go take a 'look around' // Cheers from David J'.

Btw.. during my 'Scouting days we did the 'National anthem of the ancient Britons'..
on the 'Gang shows'....the whole thing is on Wiki'

What's the good of wearing braces,
Vests and pants and boots with laces,
Spats or hats you buy in places
Down in Brompton Road?

What's the use of shirts of cotton,
Studs that always get forgotten?
These affairs are simply rotten:
Better far is woad... etc etc etc...etc.

Hi David,

Thanks for your interest here!
One advantage of living there is that you know all the places 'a little off the beaten track', and also the correct pronunciation of the place names!!

Best Wishes
