Yes it's a small sierra, especially from afar such as here but up close and personal it's big enough for a myriad choicse of walks, scrambles and even rock climbs for those so inclined (as I used to be many years ago!)

No regrets, Andy. Our younger years, whether we like it or not, only exist in our memory ;)

Yes indee, Eric, but I was scrambling in the mountains only 2 years ago and it still seems like yesterday, not in some distant youthful era! I forget I can no longer do these things although I do hold out a little bit of hope that I will be able to go back to the mountains before too long. It depends a lot on physiotherapy to build up my muscle strength again!

It's not a visit from my sister, it's the fact that, post Covid, and my continuing long Covid and other health complications I have lived with her family. With Covid in general there were too few English classes to give and I couldn't afford my central Madrid rent anyway, so I moved in with her and her family at their very nice and quite substantial house outside the city.
I've been here for nearly18 months now and I'm of course very grateful! I sometimes stay with my girlfriend but she lives some way away and hasn't really got the space.
And yes, the views are spectacular here as we live on a small hill overlooking the Jarama Valley and across to the Sierra de Guadarrama, also known as the Sistema Central or the Mountains of Madrid. Fog often settles in he valley. There can be spectacular sunrises too but I don't often see them as my bedroom is on the other side of the house! So my sister takes them as she doesn't want to wake me unnecessarily!

Sounds like your sister is a gem. We are so lucky when our siblings are great people. I am blessed with 2 of them.

Yes, I'm slowly getting better but still having problems walking well, physiotherapy is helping here, but it will be a while before I'm back to my old self and even longer before I can go gallivanting in the mountains again!
