I STILL haven't seen a hoopoe in the flesh! This one paid a visit to my window sill (I have an office desk on this side of the window) on a day spent at the hospital for tests. My sister took this shot through glass.
One day I might actually see one!!

Early morning from the house - La Sierra de La Cabrera on the horizon.
Fog in the Jarama Valley. The Sierra de La Cabrera can be seen in all its craggy but tiny extent. To the left is the brooding hulk of Mondalindo which is not granite and therefore much more rounded. Usually the mountains would be snow covered up till May but not this year.

Taken by my sister through glass. She didn't want to wake me from my siesta so I still haven't seen one of these wonderful birds in the flesh. Soon they will migrate south for the winter and I'll have to wait another year!
