El Fraile, Las Machotas with dry-stone wall.

Overlooking El Escorial, Las Machotas present a nice, relatively easy hill walk. The old drystone walls are interesting too. El Fraile = The Friar. The rock at the summit seems to represent the cowled figure of a friar!

Thank you Marije. I have 1,000 + more shots of granite boulders, weird shapes, rock windows, animals shapes, etc, etc. I can't post them all at once and so will post them gradually! Most of my contacts prefer my Cornwall shots, and I have to keep them happy at all times, seguro!

I normally come here in Spring when of course all is lush and green. 2011 was also year of drought so that by October, with no rain for the previous 9 months, things did look a bit arid, to say the least.
