Sierra de La Pedriza - a granite wonderland

This shows the less touristy eastern flank of La Sierra de La Pedriza. The farm on the right may have been deserted. It was hard to tell, even from close up.
This is where Spanish westerns were made - no, not the erroneously entitled spaghetti westerns, which were mainly shot in Murcia further south, but silent films, black and white, from the 1920s,

It.
Was!
The forecast had been for a drop in the usual August temperatures so I risked it (I hadn't been out in the countryside for months due to illness): I was feeling better: I decided to go for a gentle walk; I got lost (I never get lost but that is another story); I had to retrace my steps over many fields due to bulls: the temperature didn't relent.
I eventually staggered into Manzanares el Real 3 hours after finishing the last of my water and I made rapid and dedicated inroads into the beer supply of the first bar I came across!
I then missed the last bus back to Madrid (I was sleeping and snoring magnificently under the table in the bar!).
When I sobered up I garbled a help call to my fragrant and sublimely blessed girlfriend and a lift eventually appeared.
To this day, she attributes it to sunstroke and a change in my medication, rather than stupidity and drunkenness!!
Bless her!
Wonderful photo.
