Mar de Cristal Metro Station, Madrid

Typical of the Madrid metro designs in its great expansive phase from about 1995 to the onset of the recession and, deliberately over-edited by me, this represents a positive, thrusting, energetic attitude that faltered somewhat when the recession struck. However the legacy has left a metro network that, in large parts. exudes a dynamic upbeat feel that is very seductive.
It still needs to be paid for, however!

Thank you both!
Andy Rodker club has replied to M♥rJ Photogr♥phy !!… clubThank you.
I copy my reply to Rosa who raised the same point;
No, not really ... It is amazingly cheap and the fares haven't risen since 2013! I pay 72 euros a month (say £60) for a bus, metro and train combination ticket for all of the centre and much of the outskirts. I once worked out that I save 600 euros a month. I travel all over Madrid to and from classes and sometimes make 12 journeys a day! 72 euros is remarkably good value!
M♥rJ Photogr♥phy !!… club has replied to Andy Rodker clubAndy Rodker club has replied to M♥rJ Photogr♥phy !!… clubI once thought that the high fares in London were down to the lack of subsidy but I was later told that not only does London have some of the highest fares but that it has one of the highest levels of subsidy too!
Have a good week.
Marie-claire,
Judith.
Very many thanks!
I think people with either like this or loath it!
Is it being paid for by higher fares I wonder!
