No, not really ... It is amazingly cheap and the fares haven't risen since 2013! I pay 72 euros a month (say £60) for a bus, metro and train combination ticket for all of the centre and much of the outskirts. I once worked out that I save 600 euros a month. I travel all over Madrid to and from classes and sometimes make 12 journeys a day! 72 euros is remarkably good value!

Perhaps Britain ought to take note !!!

In the past 10 years I only once bought a ticket on the London Underground. I had to go from King's Cross to Paddington. I think it was in 2011. You could almost have heard my jaw hitting the ground, such was my astonishment at the cost! I forget what it was exactly but it was a far cry from the days when I regularly commuted into the centre (and it was expensive enough then!).
I once thought that the high fares in London were down to the lack of subsidy but I was later told that not only does London have some of the highest fares but that it has one of the highest levels of subsidy too!
