Moose

There have been reports of several moose in our area and our daughter saw them when driving to our house a few weeks ago. I've been carrying my camera when I'm out hoping to see and photograph them, but without success until yesterday. I was taking a walk - without my camera - and spotted a cow and two calves, ran home to get my camera and my wife and went out again looking for them and saw them just down the road from where we live. This is the cow and the insets show her and the two calves that were with her. I'm interrupting my series on Joshua Tree National Park to post these and adding them to the group for Pam since I know how excited she would be to see these.

I live part-time in Maine and there are moose there too; the population is controlled with strictly limited hunting permits issued by lottery. Total population is also affected by highway collisions which are usually devastating for all involved.
Eastern Washington/northern panhandle Idaho -- are y'all having a drought?

Oh it's the worst thing to not have a camera when something like this comes along...but LUCKY YOU!!! They were still close enough to photograph!! Oh congratulations, Ron!! *feels bad about kicking you in the shins...well, ok maybe not* :D (j/k!!!)
Your main cow image...gosh, that's just so awesome. Perfect angle!!! The calves are adorable too...*sigh*... definitely bucket-listers there, I'm so happy for you!! :)
Thanks so much for the wonderful comments on my wisteria leaves, I'm so glad you liked them! :)
And it was really fun to hear about your travel style--BRAVE SOULS! We just couldn't deal with a simple van/sleeping bag situation for long-term. Could do it in a pinch but I have to hand it to you for being comfortable with such spartan sleep situations. It's sure easy though, isn't it! Backpackers too...we don't do much of that but maybe we will at some point. It is so nice to hear about your travels, Ron. Thank you for sharing!
I WOULD LOVEEEEE TO SEE THEM !!!!
Love the story behind them too.
How lucky to see them face-to-face!
Thanks for all the visits, Ron.
