Convoy at Iles St Margarete

Seen as we sailed slowly to the small ferry quay on the Island. All these small yachtlings tied together to the mother ship. New French yachting champions in the making perhaps.

HBM - A happy bench in Cannes
A quick stroll along the ‘Prom. De la Pantiero’ in Cannes, France, brings us to this Carousel like structure called the ‘Kiosque à musique des Allés de la Liberté’.
A nice round bench too, for the lucky listeners to any music played here.
Enjoy full screen.
Have a great day
A Dales lone-tree
Around Settle and Langcliffe in our Yorkshire Dales there are a few limestone outcrops. Here we see one dominated by this lone tree. In the distance sits one of Yorkshires three peaks: Pen-y-ghent.
The PiP shows a similar one not too far from here.
Enjoy
A little oasis on Iles St Margarete

A natural lake here on the Island is a sanctuary for wild-life. That being said, I saw very little on this quick peep through the fence. The Island just a short 15 minute sail from Cannes, France has 370 acres of forest filled with umbrella pines and eucalyptus trees

The pink fence

Seen in the town of Propriano, Corsica. These steps not to be rushed at night in the wet. The black scrolled metal does in fact hold up a lamp though, so it should be lit OK.
Enjoy the weekend

A photo to cool us down in this warm summer heat. This was taken a year of so back but we can never get too much of a pleasant landscape.
Notice the heron sat on the old structure in the river.

Letterbox parade!
A line-up of private house letterboxes makes todays wall. It nice that the colours are in harmony I think. Seen in the centre of Piombino.
HWW, have a great day.
The pip shows one of our post boxes.
Iles St Margarete, an Island of tranquillity

Cannes, France is not known for its quiet and solitude, rather its extravagant super yachts and film festival but just a few minutes away on the ferry we have this Island. A most wonderful island full of blissful shorelines and bays along with 370 acres of forest filled with umbrella pines and eucalyptus trees plus a network of cool walking paths.

HBM - On the way......

Taken on the way to the old beach of Propriano in Corsica. If I had been really lucky I could have taken a snap of someone seated here with a tree growing out of their head :)
See PiP for the beach scene. Enjoy full screen.
Have a great day.
Lone tree in limestone pavement country
One from our Yorkshire Dales here, not far from the village of Settle. Taken on our short break up here in 2020. I thought the monochrome brought out the stark countryside that abounds around here. These rocks are know as Limestone Pavement.

Downtown Piombino
Seen in the centre of the old town of Piombino. These sienna colours of the walls are so typical of Tuscany. If the street had a different surface and people different clothing, take away the wires just add a horse and cart and hey presto, we’re in pre-war Italy. No real vivid imagination required!
Essential full screen.
Faro della Rocchetta, Piombino

A trip into this Tuscany town takes us to an impressive promenade ending at the Piombino lighthouse masquerading as a small castle tower. The ‘fences’ here are of the concrete variety but they do the job and in fact look quite nice. As can be seen this is a favourite place for picture taking. The land in the background is in fact the Isola d’Elba which was where Napoleon was exiled in 1814-15.
Ps The seagull PiP was taken from these walls too
Enjoy the weekend.

Mr Herring gull ( Larus Argentatus) takes a moment to ponder. There are a lot of tourist around on this large promenade and there is yet a chance to beg some food from them. If none available then its back to boring fish again I suppose! - Ah, here comes a prospective feeder but what is that great big box and pipe he's holding up to his eye?
Taken in Piombino- Italy
Have a good day.
Piombino fishing harbour
A look at the quite fishing harbour here. A few fishing boats are moored alongside the quay to my left side but we have mostly small pleasure boats here. The modern street dwellings with the tower reflects some of the Tuscany building traditions of places like Volterra and San Gimignano, not too far away from Piombino.
HWW. Enjoy the day.
Come visit Piombino

Seen in the old town of Piombino; this fellow takes a rest with his electric scooter while he consults his phone. – looking just so Italian - I think! ……. And yes, a great place to visit.

Take a seat at Piombino

Tuscany, Italy: A short bus ride from our ship brings us to this rather nice small town. We are near the old fishing harbour here and not too far from the town centre itself. Before we get to those places, it is hot and so let’s take a seat and contemplate this wonderful setting looking over to the Island of Elba.
The Pip shows the location of these benches facing the fishing harbour wall.
Enjoy full screen.
Have a great day.

Stepping out in, Sartene
An afternoon trip to the mountain village town of Sartene near Propriano brings us to these narrow backstreets, always photogenic to me with these characteristic steps and balconies. Somewhat cooler than the hot squares too.
Nice full screen.
