Madraki harbour entrance and its deer.

Madraki harbour entrance and its deer.
A look at this famous entrance where it was fabled that the statue of Colossus (of Rhodes) once stood, legs astride. Now, instead we have these pillars with deer on top. One is named 'Elefos’ and the other 'Elafina'.

More info on Colossus

An excellent composition. The statues aren't as impressive as the "Collosus" would have been but they're still a beautiful way to adorn the harbour entrance.

I like the lines of the boat as well.............even though it looks a bit overcroweded. It seems like they're having a party onboard.

A delightful image Herb.

What..... don't tell anyone there in Rhodes, I am sure they are all positive it was!

That being said, I have read several times that it was all just a Greek fable and if it did indeed exist that it was not here anyway! so I am with you there Daniela. Good that you enjoyed it just the same.

It would have been most impressive if it had have been there Keith. You may have read, like me, that the Greek authorities planned for some time to create a new Collosus here, funded by private enterprise but as many things Greek, it never happened! And so, I just had to imagine it. Maybe I should have drawn one into my picture here :) - There boat trips - all packed to the gills in Summertime. You would not get me on one:)
