Mouse Island, Corfu
Corfu has many wonderful places to see and visit. Here is one of my favourite spots. Sitting on a tiny Island, reached only by boat or a narrow pier. - Kanoni, the church of Panagia Vlacherna and the Mouse Island is in fact one of the most photographed spots in Corfu. On the day we visited, it was being made ready for yet another dream wedding.
Old fort lighthouse, Corfu
Atop the old fortress in Corfu Town stands this almost forlorn lighthouse overlooking the sea on three sides and the old town on the other. Its age eludes me as I cannot find any reference to that. This photo amazingly misses out the throngs of tourist who have, like me, climbed the heights to get here.
The domes and homes of down-town Cofu.

Taken from the new fort towards the old town, Small church towers abound in these tiny streets as do flowers on these balconies.
A Kassiopi view
Kassiopi on the top North East corner of Corfu is the setting for this view. On the right can be seen a lovely sandy bay which leads us to this little magical Island.
Palaiokastritsa bay view.

Corfu town offers so many delights it is difficult to concentrate just on one. Here we see the old fort topped by its lighthouse and also Saint Spyridon church spire. Taken from the new fort.
Parga and its environs
The beautiful coastal town of Parga is the setting of this scene. A rather dull day for me but I have kept this picture natural as it portrays a special feeling.
Snack time in old Corfu town
The old part of Corfu Town holds many attractions. It seems that almost around every bend something else beckons. Enjoy with me the colours and flavours of the wonderful spot.
Corfu Town from the old fort

Looking south from the top of the old fort Island. We see here the main promenade and newer part of the town. Below us are remains of the old fort and colonial barracks.
Strolling the banks of Lake Pamvotida

Here at Ioannina in Greece sits a beautiful lake, commonly called 'Lake of Ioannina'. The weather is a mild 23C and the first leaves of Autumn are falling on this September day. A stroll, a sit or just a pause to snap the scene, what more can we ask for.

In the old town of Skiathos, many touches of the local architecture and style met ours eyes and thoughts. Could I catch those scenes and the feelings they convey on camera? Maybe, only you can say!
HFF everyone!

Ancient Dodoni, Greece
A view of the Ancient Dodona Theater here at Igoumenitsa. It is hard to believe that these seats were often full of adoring people watching and listening to the plays that were often staged here in this desolate spot.
Skopelos

SPC Roofs. A fleeting memory of the beautiful Greek Island of Skopelos from my trip here in 2012. Taken from our small tourist ship, arriving from Skiathos. All these wonderful buildings are looking over the gorgeous bay. A town of hundreds of churches that were once used as protection from pirates.
Enjoy full size on black.
A glimpse of Corfu

A stunning Island, this taken just as the day was setting, showing Corfu Town itself with both the old and new fortresses.
Taken from the top of our cruise ship: The Marella Discovery.

The Windmills of Mandraki
Coming into Rhodes just as night descended, we were lucky to see and walk past these famous windmills. Situated on the long wave breaker at Mandraki harbour stand these three medieval windmills which once ground the grains unloaded from merchant vessels in the harbour. Today, they still stand there, a proud reminder of a great past!!

The windmills of Rhodes
Also known as 'The Windmills of Mandraki'. That is because, just to the left is the ancient harbour of Mandraki where at its entrance, once stood the 'Colossus of Rhodes', one of the old Wonders of the World. These old mills once ground the grain that entered here from the myriad of merchant ships. ~ Quite a different view from the floodlit night-time one. See pips.
We also see in the background one of the Rhodes lighthouses.
Good full size.
Madraki harbour entrance and its deer.

A look at this famous entrance where it was fabled that the statue of Colossus (of Rhodes) once stood, legs astride. Now, instead we have these pillars with deer on top. One is named 'Elefos’ and the other 'Elafina'.
