So typical of an old woollen mill town, nestled in the beautiful countryside around it. Is there anything in the large mill building now? The woollen mills of Bradford on Avon near me have all been converted to apartments, cafes and shops now. Much better than watching them go to rack and ruin. I like all three shots very much. Thanks Rosa. Yes a blast from the past here, but life goes. I don't know if it now lies empty or is occupied with new small businesses. My research reveals that it was completely derelict in 2015 and the local council was trying to revamp it for a cafe etc. In March this year, a substantial fire had broken out in the old mill but I don't know what the overall outcome was. No more news about other companies in there and so presume it is bad for the building. I know other old mills like yours at B.o.Avon have made use of the building fabric at least.

Three well taken photos! In those days they built to last, it looks massive but the architecture is good. A pity the industry has died but lets hope the building can be saved and put to other uses even after the fire.

Thanks Gudrun. Yes these buildings were certainly made to last, like most things Victorian. Both the cotton and woollen industry which our North West of England played such a part is now largely dissipated except for some of these buildings. Perhaps the fabric of the building will at least prevail for other uses.

Always nice to see pictures of the mills here. I used to pass through here on the train to/from university, and particularly remember emerging from the long tunnel to see industrial Yorkshire!
