Another View from Old Winchester Hill

Another View from Old Winchester Hill
It's all looking a bit parched..........and that will have got worse after this photo was taken at the beginning of the month.

It was looking a lot greener when I took a photo from pretty much the same place six years ago, (from a little bit higher up the hill and more to the right): www.ipernity.com/doc/keithburton/42400930

Jörg, Günter Klaus, ROL/Photo, trester88 and 12 other people have particularly liked this photo

Ah yes, I suppose there is a lot of sunburnt dry countryside around the south of England right up to East Anglia. After temps have normalised here again and several days of soft rain, I think our hillsides look much greener. A grand vista here. Well done.

Thanks for sharing with our UK Landscape Photography Group , Herb

Thank you very much Herb.............glad you approve. It's a little cooler at the moment, but we're told to expect drought conditions in the next couple of weeks and higher temperatures again.

On the plus side, we don't have to mow the lawn..!!

Glad you like this one Andy..............although sometimes I wish I lives near some more dramatic scenery or some rugged coastlines.

A good comparison Keith. The once green and pleasant land is more yellow in colour! It is still a great extensive view though.

Glad you think so Rosa................and thanks for looking.

It's getting pretty bad out there..........my garden is look pretty forlorn at the moment. We're expecting hose-pipe bans soon.

There are others much worse off though..........a rough looking gardens doesn't compare to a burned down house or a bunch of wildfires.

A lovely landscape, Keith! How nice that a track has been cut so that people can walk up the hill and enjoy the view!

Thank you Eunice...........I'm glad you like it. The track is pretty well used as the whole area is a nature reserve. The track encourages people not to trample down the grasses and flowers and disturb the wild life.

We've had some rain, but everything is still tinder dry, and the countryside looks a pale yellow colour. I don' think the quality of the harvest will be up to scratch. At least it's cooler now and our yoga class today is back to normal. ;-)

Thanks for commenting Amelia...........I'm sure we'll get some rain eventually and then I'll probably moan about it :-)))

Glad you're enjoying the cooler weather..............and getting back to our yoga! Take care :-)

Thank you Wilhelm..........much appreciated.

It's been very dry throughout the UK and in some parts of Europe this year..............I think that is a trend that will continue and we will all have to think of ways to adjust to it.
