Happy wedding - Kaisermantel - Silver-washed fritillary

Diese seltene Beobachtung eines Tandems von kopulierenden Kaisermantel-Faltern (Argynnis paphia) konnte ich in einem lichten Eichen-Laubmischwald machen. Das Paar flog immer wieder als Tandem eine kurze Strecke, um dann für eine Weile irgendwo zu landen. Im Bild ist das Männchen links, das Weibchen rechts.
Der Kaisermantel wurde vom BUND zum Schmetterling des Jahres 2022 gekürt.

I was able to make this rare observation of a tandem of copulating silver-washed fritillaries (Argynnis paphia) in a sparse mixed oak-deciduous forest. The pair kept flying in tandem for a short distance, then landing somewhere for a while. In the photo the male is on left and the female on the right.
The silver-washed fritillary was named Butterfly of the Year 2022 by BUND.
