The backward glance

This is one of my favourite poses of a Northern Hawk Owl. This photo was taken on my first drive north west of the city, on March 18th, to try and find this owl. After a couple of hours of trying, I finally spotted a tiny black speck near the top of what must be the tallest tree I think I have ever seen. I posted a photo of the distant tree a few days ago : ) Totally amazing how a camera can make the owl look almost at eye level! Full zoom and very heavily cropped.
