Scotland’s Donovan (Leitch) wrote and recorded “Sunshine Superman” in the summer of 1966. This became the title of his next top twenty LP. The single topped the Billboard chart and peaked in the top ten in Australia, Canada and elsewhere. Jimmy Page plays guitar while John Paul Jones is on bass.

Imani Coppola’s debut album “Chupacabra” samples “Sunshine Superman” for the hit “Legend Of A Cowgirl” (Donovan Leitch – Imani Coppola – Michael Mangini) to the greatest extent. Despite the fact that Imani considered it the worst song on the 1997 album the single rosed to twenty-four Adult Contemporary and thirty-six on the Top One Hundred.
