Mind Games
In 1969 John Lennon started writing “Make Love, Not War”. The vibe was later used for “Mind Games” combined with the melody from the 1970 demo for “I Promise”. From the John Lennon recording sessions for the 1973 album “Mind Games” this is an alternate version of the single of the same name. John completed the song after reading the Robert Masters, Jean Houston 1972 book “Mind Games: The Guide To Inner Space”.
The 1973 single “Mind Games” opened the album and took John Lennon to number eighteen on Billboard and higher on other national charts. The top ten album was John’s first self-produced release and came after John’s problems with American immigration and a separation from Yoko Ono. The recording process was completed within a month.
