A view across 'Strines reservoir' towards the tall thin structure known as 'Boots folly' also known as Strines Tower or Sugworth Tower. The folly was constructed in 1927 by Charles Boot who resided at the nearby Sugworth Hall. It is thought that the 45-foot-high square tower with castellated top and flag pole was constructed to provide work for Sugworth Hall’s workmen during The depression.
The gritstone rocks of... 'Back tor'

Derwent Edge has several examples of unusually shaped 'gritstone tors' which have been formed by the actions of wind, rain and frost over many centuries. These tors have been named over the years and are now officially titled on Ordnance Survey maps. Here we see the varied rock formations of 'Back tor' with a walker and his faithful dog.

Here.. in the city of Sheffield ..we took a look to the skies today 22/02/2019.., to see a unique flyover of US and Royal Air Force aircraft – to mark 75 years since the 'Mi Amigo' disaster on 'Friday 22 February' 1944...The 'Mi Amigo' a US Air Force B-17 Flying Fortress returning from a bombing raid, crashed at 'Endcliffe Park' - killing her crew of 10 American servicemen. Local boy - Tony Foulds - then 8 years old..witnessed the crash and has been tending the 'Mi Amigo' memorial in Endcliffe Park for many years. Tony's story was picked up by BBC presenter Dan Walker as he walked his dog - he spoke to Tony in the park and it's captivated the world’s media ever since.
among other aircraft .. were a Dakota, CV-22 Osprey, KC-135 Tanker, MC 130
The image here is a still from my movie showing four.. F15 Strike Eagle Fighter jets..as one powers off with an earth shattering roar to vertical - as a salute to the 10 airmen.

Probably the most popular site for 'selfies' ..The statue of King Alfonso XII (1857-85) was king of Spain from 1874 to 1885 and was the son of Isabella II. He went into exile with his parents at the time of the revolt of the Carlists in 1868 and was educated in Austria and England. In 1870 his mother abdicated her rights in his favour, and in 1874 he was proclaimed king.
