HFF to everyone.. from an almost full.. Derwent dam.

This.. photo'.. was snapped during a visit... February 26th.... the 'P.I.P' shows the water level at September the 1st 2018... following a dry and most splendid Summer.... it is surprising how quickly the water level rose following a few rainy spells - as we entered 2019.

Gotcha'.. Gudrun.... when the water is very low.. as in 2018.. the remains of flooded villages can be seen .. people do venture out to explore them.

Eine schöne Komposition mit einer wunderbaren Spiegelung!
Durch meine Stadt fließt die Weser. Der Pegel des Flusses wird durch die Eder-Talsperre reguliert. Im letzten trockenen Sommer war die Talsperre zu 90% leer! Die Schifffahrt auf dem Fluss musste eingestellt werden.

Thanks.. Peggy.. we had a pleasant sunny two weeks here.. with blue skies and mild temps.
Most amazing for February...but yes, the recent rain sure did top up the dams. There are thousands of acres of moorland around here which act as catchment areas.

Thanks.. Leopold'.... the building of these dams is a most fascinating subject to read of....
a small temporary village was built close by - in order to house the workers and their families..
all now long gone.. but the level terraces where the streets ran - can still be seen.
