Open to walkers and cyclists.. the riverside walk here in Sheffield passes beneath a bridge and over the 'River Don' .... in order to continue the path - the complete structure is suspended on wires.. and known locally as 'Spider bridge' due to the tangle of suspension cables.

An easy Saturday stroll through the 'Moss valley' .. here is a well cropped picture to replace my current header.

Return to 'Winnats' pass - view West at 08.05.... The high point in the distance is named 'Mam Tor' which is a popular starting out point for a stunning walk to the east, along the ridge between the 'Hope' and 'Edale' valley's.

A start out at 05.45... a 40 minutes drive - then a 40 minute scramble (with stops ! ) up the sludgy slopes ... takes us back to 'Winnats pass' - west of Castleton - Derbyshire - Here at 08.15 we are looking East from the south side of the gorge. The actual sun up' - which we hoped to capture.. is still below the rocky outcrops.... Dj.

In the very centre of the market town of 'Chesterfield' is the old inn ''The Royal oak'' Some details on the wall shield show - Built in the 12th.century is one of the oldest inns in England. It was formally a rest house for 'The Knights Templar' in the years of the holy crusades. Also used as a butchers shop and inn accommodation - the earliest known records show it to be an inn in 1722.

A lone cyclist makes his way along the road between the double row of lime trees. A plentiful thickness of fallen leaves lie on the ground.. but as of date..... the anticipated golden brown Autumn colour has yet to arrive to the tree canopy........ Dj.

Close to the village of 'Hardwick' within 'Clumber park' the road drops down to a ford to enable vehicles to pass through the river overflow from the lake. A wooden pedestrian walkway is to the right. The park is in the 'Dukeries' near Worksop.. Nottinghamshire UK..

Now - way above the morning mist.. walking the highest rim of this most awesome gorge.

Showing a photographer with his gymnast model...and the clinging morning mist on the slopes... here is the deep gorge ''Winnats Pass'' running West out of the village of 'Castleton'
Once thought to be a collapsed cave.. however a more recent explanation it is more likely to be a ravine between the under sea coral reefs that originally formed the limestone.. (Wikipedia)
At any point when walking this area - fossilised skeletal fragments of marine organisms can be picked up at random.... (Dj.)
The Hope valley... from 'Winnats Pass'

As we reach the higher points of the 'Winnats pass' ... this backwards look shows a large sweep of the 'Hope valley'. The 'Speedwell cavern' entrance can be seen middle right and the distant popular tourist village of 'Castleton' has not yet cleared from the morning mist.

The most delightful village of 'Hathersage' .. in the 'Hope valley' Derbyshire.
The Church graveyard shown here.. features a special attraction in the form of the grave of legendary outlaw 'Little John' friend and lieutenant of 'Robin Hood'

Police box - adjacent Sheffield town hall.

One of only a few remaining here in the UK. this restored police box is no longer used as it was originally intended. It is now featured mainly as a backdrop for visiting tourist photographs.
The 'Cheese grater'... Sheffield city centre.

It can be understood why - the local nickname amongst Sheffielder's for this monster metal clad cube is...
''The cheese grater'' .. it is - in actual fact a city centre multi storey car park. The ground level floor accommodates several restaurants.
