Delving into the archives... here's a hazy morning view of the 'Humber bridge' - pictured from the North bank The Bridge, near Kingston upon Hull, in Yorkshire, is a 2.22-kilometre 1.38 milei..single-span road suspension bridge, which opened to traffic on 24 June 1981. The bridge was the longest of its type in the world; it was not surpassed until 1998, with the completion of the Akashi Kaikyō Bridge, and is now the eleventh-longest.

A most delightful walk can be taken along the footpath - which along with several bridges cross back and forth - over the stream known as 'Wyming brook' .. which runs from the 'Redmires dams' near Sheffield to feed the lower 'Rivelin dams.

Along the A-340 running from 'Nerja' to 'Maro' are several waterways - aqueducts and culverts taking water to irrigate the fields and to feed the produce.
Here is a view down one of them.

At only two hours forty minutes fly time from the storms and grim winter of the UK... here is a blue sky scene from a quiet residential back road of.. 'Calle Sierramar' lined each side with exclusive villas'.. north of the town of Nerja'... Andalucia.

The small chrome fence seen here - surrounds a hole of around 1 metre diameter where on 12 January 1959, local boys from the nearby village of 'Maro', discovered the now world renowned ''Nerja caves'' system. Today these caves are one of the biggest attractions in the region and contain the widest naturally-formed column in the world, at 32m high and 13x7m at its base - formed by the merging of a stalagmite and stalactite.

Not a very exciting fence.. but here is the sun rising over a distant headland..viewed from a hilltop near to the village of 'Maro'....Andalusia .... the small tower on the horizon is ''Torre de Caleta'... one of many old defence towers scattered along this coast.

North of the resort of 'Nerja' Spain, are the mountainous Sierras of 'Tejeda', 'Almijara' and 'Alhama' Natural Park' .. here are four pics. from a relatively easy walking stretch along the 'River Chillar'
The flow varies according to the weather conditions at the time.. on this occasion it was mostly a stream - deepening to knee height in places.

A photo from the beach - to the background 'Balcón de Europa' a large round balcony on a cliff in the Andalusian town of Nerja, Spain. It has spectacular panoramic views of the 'Sierra Almijara' mountain range and the coast with its beautiful beaches, sandy coves and rocky outcrops.
In the 9th century the watchtower of an Arabic fortress existed on the site of the balcony. Today - its location in the centre of the town is close to a number of cafés shops and hotels and the bustling atmosphere of this unspoilt tourist town.

Nostell Priory house was built during 1733 by 21 year old James Paine for Sir Rowland Winn and is home to a large collection of Chippendale furniture, and other furnishings all made for the house - and remain in situ today. The park occupies 121 hectares (300 acres) of parkland and gardens with lakeside walks - a gatehouse, through wildflower meadows. Pictured here is the lower lake of three - with the boathouse on the left - and bridge.

I came across this robotic shelf stock scanner in a local store..and having an interest in things technical - and finding out how these things work .. I snapped it's actions.
[ Lucky - that I had a spare camera in my pocket !! ]
It appears that they are becoming more widely used among stores. The machine will travel the length of every aisle then turn and proceed along the next .. scanning and recording the stock contents of shelves. Shoppers do not need to move out the units' way.. as it will steer around them - then carry on with it's job. It will record the shelf stocks of the whole store automatically ...the operator with the laptop is only observing the machines progress .. Dj.
