A local landmark near Chesterfield UK. is this 55ft tall gritstone chimney. The site had furnaces for smelting metals and complex flue systems - long disappeared - but still traceable. The site is a scheduled ancient monument and the chimney believed to be the oldest industrial chimney in the UK circa 1770. Just visible through the foliage.. is 'Mill house' - obviously named as many years ago - there once was a mill further along the lane. This view is the opposite direction to the church in previous photo'.

A small insignificant bridge crossing a stream.. but apparently constructed by P.O.Ws during the war 1945... I had heard of the bridge but came across it purely by chance.. down a tight footpath through woodland.. close to Ridgeway - South Sheffield.
