This kind of boat was our means of transporting goods before the railways came. Generally known as 'Narrow Boats' they were built to a standard size to fit the locks, but are now mostly used for leisure.

When I arrived on the canal bank I could just see a bright light shining through the tunnel, so I waited, taking a picture every couple of minutes, until the boat began to emerge, then of course a whole string of pictures to pick from!
