Peter_Private_Box club has replied to Nick Weall clubApart from the mix of teak coaches and a Southern region locomotive, it could have been 70 years ago. As for the sheep, well, here they are in winter! www.ipernity.com/doc/2247998/46411926
Best Wishes

Terrific shot Peter.
Peter_Private_Box club has replied to Roger (Grisly) clubYou are right. From here you can hear the locomotive starting off from Hampton Loade station, and labouring its way up the gradient, just as many a steam locomotive has done for over a hundred years!

A superb scene with so much in it that we love! It really does give a feeling of a slower life and such tranquillity.
Best wishes, Rosa.
Peter_Private_Box club has replied to Rosalyn HilborneYes, even the sheep are contentedly eating grass, not worried by the passing train...
I am sure life was so peaceful in those days...

Andy Rodker club has replied to SteA few years ago I had friends at Button Oak and we used to drink at the pub in Arley where this railway has a station (from memory). I don't recall if this railway line had been restored then (it would have been in the years around 1988-93).
Best wishes,
Andy
Peter_Private_Box club has replied to SteAs always, your visit is most welcome. Of course you are right, it was posted on Pano, but I decided to resurrect in to go with 'Repton' as in the hyperlink above. I might even have one of Stowe.somewhere. I'll keep looking!. (probably in print, not digital)
Best Wishes

Peter_Private_Box club has replied to Andy Rodker clubThank you! I remember we had talked before about your friend at Button Oak. Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that the railway was operational at that time. (I have a picture in a book dated 1979)... If you are really interested I have a Severn Valley Railway album, but it could do with a lot more of the ex-Pano pictures adding.
Best Wishes
Peter
Peter_Private_Box club has replied to DanielleMerci beaucoup pour votre visite.
Peter
