An old door into the past. Sometimes I ask me, when I go through this kind of door, I might land in the past and don`t find the way back to the future :-)

Well, for a single person it's easier to open the smaller door than the whole gate. The gate will be open only when it is necessary. But the doorsill speaks against a carriage.

I wonder..Have I seen already it in Pano?

If the small inlet is in the wing of a large gate and has a high threshold, it is also referred to as a manhole (also called manshole or mandoor). The purpose of these doors was to avoid having to open the large and usually double-arched castle gates for individual pedestrians. The great door was for horses and goods ... :-)))
