Trisetella hoeijeri


This tiny orchid species is from Ecuador and grows at high elevations. It was once classified as a Masdevallia and belongs to the group of Central and South American orchids known as Pleurothallids.
The plant, shown here, is only 2 cm tall, less than an inch, and the flowers are huge in comparison, nearly two inches in size. Thew flowers have a sparkling crystalline texture.
