Cypripedium montanum

In Explore July 19, 2011, #296.
This was photographed in Derby Canyon, east of Peshastin, Washington. We were hiking in the area looking for our native peony, which we found, but which was finished blooming. We were driving away when we spotted these right along the road, and so we ended up taking another hour for photos of this most elegant of Lady's Slippers, the Mountain Lady's Slipper.
