This lovely wildflower was photographed at Snow Mountain Ranch in the Cowiche Canyon Conservancy in the Yakima Valley of Washington State. The ranch is now a wonderful place for hiking, for spring wildflowers and for views of the surrounding area.
The country there is sagebrush country and very open with few trees except in the lower areas and around water. It is also very dry in the summer and a place best hiked in the spring. Other pictures of the area and the flowers can be seen on my blog:
