A Fathers legacy of a life long photographer, Hope…

09 Dec 2017 37 40 426
2017 I grabbed Mum's Camera as I had mine in the back of the car ready to drive back to the unit. My father now 91 and Mum 87 now an enemy we can not see not defend ourselves against can so easily do so much damage to families. I hope to see them both again when life comes back to normal but living in hope. Living in New Zealand but may as well be on the moon at the moment. nothing sum up how I feel like this song as a photographer. www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhDKHo2wapM

First try with the 14mm lens and home modified holder to hold a 150 x 150 clear night filter. on my full size shot I can see the red of the Orion nebula highlighted by the filter. first real break in the clouds looking out to sea due west. Not an outstanding photos to most but a big step forward.

After a long dry spell of summer for the second time the plants have woken up and start growing. As we have more rain coming I will add these to the bonsai stands to get watered regularly. The only thing I have done to these I have removed the fallen leaves from the plants this season.

After a long dry spell of summer for the second time the plants have woken up and start growing. As we have more rain coming I will add these to the bonsai stands to get watered regularly. The only thing I have done to these I have removed the fallen leaves from the plants this season that cover over the moss below. The plants have gone from closed up straw colour to an opened up rosette of orange then starts to go to green. Amazing small plants from the Wilds of WA.

South Celestial Pole

03 Mar 2020 4 332
If you start from the bottom you can see the Bright dot Which is 47 Tucane just above the 4. Next Above to the very left of the first word you can see the three stars in a line Y1, Y2,Y3 Octane in this case bottom to the top. Just above to the left of the first word is the 4 Octanes in the shape of a bowl been tipped out over to the left Left to right around the 4 . X Oct, Sig. Oct or Polaris Australis below T Oct and U Oct the lowest one. the area of the South Celestial pole Is just below the very left front of the A. you can almost draw a line through them all. All of this is made possible because of the Pole Master I can for the first time actually see them as they are. They move, the bowl shape of the octans moves around in a 360 rotation depending on the month and time of night. I have to use an app on the phone to see what shape I am looking for to find them they dont have names on them out in space. Now look at the night sky and try and find them. this is one of the 16mm shots that could have made up the bow below, cropped so you can see the area of the sky.

1 hours drive from home high up BUT not a tree about but low scrub. A full 360 of the area 13 photos, the shot was taken 1am in the morning after the moon had gone down. all the car light and the City of Perth still show up in the photo. Enjoy a sky full of stars on a cool night, a slower trip back home watching for wildlife in the dark. early in the season for the Milky way

I was deleting shots on my phone when I found this. I took this first night I actually found the octans for the first time on the laptop. This is one of the steps that you have to go though to line up First its find the stars that make the 4 Octans in the like dish. gives you some idea just what you see so far it has not let me down I have found them first time each time . It requires 10 steps that need doing none of it hard but plenty fiddly like moving the head about to line up to the projected south up or down or side to side. my set up has not changed but one thing I noted when I deconstructed my first night. If I was at latitude 32.1 the correcting to South added 0.6 to it so it was at 32.7. going forward I have added this first up and found them bang in the middle of the screen. In all takes me from start to finish 10min to run through and line up. recommend it 100% percent as a good investment. more info see info on the PIP photo.

2am Mindarie beach

26 Feb 2020 10 8 622
After weeks and weeks of being clouded in when I got up at 1 am there was no clouds about. A view of Mindarie beach looking towards the South and Fremantle Glow. this is less than 5 min from home even a peak time. this is a full 360 degrees or 13 shots to get the whole way around. It was so hot I was sweating in shorts and singlet, Lightening inland and way out to sea. The shot was taken with a Haida 77mm clear night filter on my 16-35mm f4 lens as my first try with a Clear night filter to kill the light pollution. the filter was mainly bought for my deep space shots but was worth a go. While the light glow has been cut back the Milky way Bow in the shot is still effected by the whole light plume from the City Starts over the city and finished at the walk way to the beach. This was taken well within the City limits of the Northern end of Perth. this will be part of my normal night shooting but I have had to get a 150x 150 mm for the 14mm lens and modify a holder to take the filter.

I dont think this is the stairway to Heaven Wrong…

My one and only clear night at 1:30am in the morning. The shot has a "Haida Clear night filter" on the lens my first real look at its results. I am 100% in the city light plume the beach just 2 min down the road from home.. Contrast the colour with no filter and how much more light pollution there is. Setting normal Astro for the last 4 years BUT no filter on this shot.
