Clear night filter and learning to edit the colours. Just which is better I tend to like the grey blue rather than the Rusty red from 2014 Auto WB. For those interested this a two shot horizontal vertical panorama you can see just how much the light pollution has moved since 2014
The Moon in a Hole

The great grandson came running into the house "The Moon" when he first saw it in the large hole in the clouds. I went and got tripod and long lens, Dom's Moon for you to enjoy.
He has been around me long enough to see photos and know just what the moon is just short of 2 years old.

A shot from my head, years of reading Terry Brooks for years and painting in my head the words from the pages (Elf Lost in the Back Forest). I got the chance with Jess to try and bring out my ideas but it meant going into the trees spiders, bugs and real dark.
not a shot you are likely to see ever again straight from my imagination ............ enjoy a concept and a purely manual shot . Well worth the view large on black you get to see the shot I had in mind.

As our locked down was cut back the clouds cleared and the moon was small and low. Sadly there was plenty of smoke. First real Chance to use the Clear night filter on the stars at night. Which is better.

This is open but it would be best to choose a photo from the back catalog of yours for this HF In this time of trouble.
My first night out of lock down I took Grandsons Girlfriend out under the stars as she had never seen the Milky way. Other than my photos and they are "never real", it is never like this. Oh but it is.
The good part is I found some one willing to give a shot a go even if it meant standing still for two shots. Never write off a shot that never went the way "you planned it to go".
Nothing like a night under the stars. A very complex set of lighting some not even planned for..............

After weeks of being told to stay at home and only two people together is a crowd. Our down turn in new case to 0 for the last 5 days of Covid19 we are able to meet family again and enjoy the outdoors and feel just a little more normal. yes social distancing still applies.

It was suppose to be raining totally clouded, when I woke at 4 am I saw nothing but stars and the moon. I thought it would be great to capture a 22% crescent moon on a star trail as well. Through the 150 shots there was some wispy clouds blew past the moon hence the extra effect on the moon. I went to 5 shot of the pre dawn to add to the effect with the stars. This was looking almost Due East.
I had limited space as the dew fell very heavy so I had the camera under the roof for protection but limited the view of the sky I had. Enjoy a little out of the box thinking as I did not 100% know just what I would get apart from the broad moon trail.

I am sorry I can not find definitive proof just what type this is as its shedding its skin. I have narrowed it down to nothing. I cant find it what I have found don't live in Perth. all I can do is watch, this is inside a very deep pot but I am sure getting out of the pot will be easy. I just may never know just what Geko this is. the tail spots and yellow markings on the feet one that lives eastern states why it is so confusing. I will keep looking...........but this is 15cm total length so its not small. found hiding in my shed as it does not want too move while shedding skin.

This is a shot to see just what I can get under the very worst situation With a full moon /Light pollution. not much of a shot. 42 shots as the house was starting to appear in the shots. I was able to use the Elements in Sequator to remove all the light and moon pollution from the shot.
I also used my Benro geared head and spacer for the first time much easier to adjust when trying to find stars than a ball head. I can not wait for a night where there is no moon.
Canopus is the very bright star 2/3 of the way from the left next to the large white cloud.

its not easy being an Astro photographer. to get the best effect of a Super Moon you need some foreground to show the size. mine was taken away by clouds lets hope tomorrows Super moon will be less clouds.. But do look at this shot on black as large as possible.
