Flowers Galore
Bee Orchid3 comments143 visitsFour weeks ago today I had my minor surgery. Between then and today, I’ve had about 10 appointments for a dressing change with either the surgeon, a doctor, or a nurse. I’m coming to the point, though if you’re squeamish you may want to look away. Last night a ‘bit’ on the edge of the wound was bothering me and I assumed it was a small scab though it wouldn’t come off. This morning I sterilised a pair of tweezers and tried to pull the ‘scab’ off, only for it to hurt like the devil. Bear in mind,… (read more)
My poor flowers are desperately trying to stay blooming
Jenny McIntyre3 comments275 visitsIt's been a trying couple of days - the sky has been the same now - an overall cover of 'orrrible grey - all one colour and so depressing. Still I can't complain because I've had two weeks of gorgeous blue sky - apart from a couple of days when we had that storm. I suppose I can't complain neither because it's not been too cold, even though it's towards the end of October and I haven't had to put any heat on. Anyway I decided to venture outside inbetween showers and have a look at my pots to… (read more)
Seagull babies and some new flowers at Ann's
Jenny McIntyre12 comments138 visitsWell the weather is starting to drive me nuts - each morning it dawns all drizzly and dull and so there's nothing that I can do, then just around 4pm or so each afternoon, it clears up and we have lovely sunny days. It's too damn late for me to do anything and so I'm getting quite fed up. I really need to trim down the hedges and do some more weeding in the driveway - but it's either raining or it's too wet to sit on the ground and weed....... hmmmm grrrr........ okay rant over. Yesterday my… (read more)
Some more flowers in my garden...
Jenny McIntyre5 comments144 visitsA lovely sunny day here today and so armed with my camera I ventured forth to see what was around............ Not a lot I'm afraid, although the pots are still full of plants etc, some of the flowers are on their last legs, so no point in taking photos of them. So I hobbled around the rest of the garden, and found some Japanese anemones which were dotting around the place. See I do have some lovely flowers in the garden, although they are growing in most places they can. It's just… (read more)
clearing the debris left by the wind and 2 new flowers
Mickey fez1 comment127 visitsAfter a dull morning the sun managed to break through this afternoon. My first job was to clear the debris scattered around the garden from yesterday's wind. My garden recyle bin had beem blown half way down the garden and the contents scattered,I found the watering can tangled in a gooseberry bush and all the long stemmed wild flowers looked as though a heard of rhino had trampled through them. The flowers I left to mother nature to solve and the other bits were easily sorted despite having So… (read more)
My last day of freedom... sunshine...flowers
Jenny McIntyre12 comments180 visits1Mandi is due home tomorrow - which is both a joyous and sad occasion. I'm so looking forward to seeing her again and having her home, but at the same time, sad that she has to come home and then the hassle of the Social Services and other problems begin again. She skyped me and I could see lovely sun in the back shining against the wall, mind you - this afternoon the sun visited us and as I write now, there is blue sky with little puffy white clouds. She loves living there in Yaşi [pronounced… (read more)
Yvonne also has some lovely flowers........
Jenny McIntyre6 comments188 visitsI wandered around her garden and found some lovely flowers ....... She was growing nasturtiums near her beans so the bugs would go there instead of her beans - apparently they weren't working as well as she wanted............ Then she has some sweet peas but apparently they've not been as good as she'd hoped - the weather hasn't helped much ...... I also noticed that she had some geraniums which were really looking healthy - she said she was amazed because she'd bought them from a r… (read more)
Some lovely flowers to cheer us up.
Jenny McIntyre11 comments158 visits1As we are all going through some horrendous times, with the COVID19, I thought I would take some pictures of the beauty surrounding my home at the moment. I hope it gives you some pleasure as it does me - of course I've got it all the time, but you can see what I'm getting at. I'm really scared about what's going on in the world - I normally stay indoors on my own anyway, so that part of the "lockdown" isn't too hard for me, but the fact that I can't go and see my daughter in Turkey, nor my s… (read more)
There are still loads of flowers blossoming there....
Jenny McIntyre4 comments104 visitsI didn't expect to see a lot of flowers still blooming out there in Turkey - I mean I was going there in October, but I was pleasantly surprised..... In Mandi and Dogan's driveway there are still some bouganvillea out and they are just fantastic.......... I mean - how can you not be an admirer of such a beautiful flower. I know it grows in abundance over there and I mentioned to Mandi that if I had a house there, I'd have that gorgeous flower growing up… (read more)
I've got some indoor flowers too......
Jenny McIntyre8 comments105 visitsOn my kitchen window sill I have got three plants - two are flowering, the other one has decided to stop flowering this year. One of them is a gorgeous white rose which was given to me by Mandi as a Mother's Day pressie. For a few years it only gave me one bloom, then last year I had 3 blooms, but this year ...... I've got 7....... it's exceeded itself As you can see - it's a glorious creamy white. The problem with white is you can't really see the varying shades with… (read more)
The wonderful wild flowers at the wedding....
Jenny McIntyre8 comments104 visitsMy neighbour's son got married on Saturday and it was a lovely affair apparently. They both wanted a simple wedding do, and it was gorgeous being simple. They had the ceremony in a little church just up the road.... They were really lucky with the weather, because the rain stopped and the sun decided to stay out for the rest of the day. They had a lovely marquee in a field overlooking the sea and cliffs. They had straw bales dotted around the marquee and they had a local group playing… (read more)
Hey flowers in the garden on 30.1.2020
Jenny McIntyre6 comments136 visits1I was looking out my bedroom window this morning and I saw a small flash of pale colouring and so I took a few pictures so I could see what it was. Imagine my surprise when I enlarged the pictures - Spring has started to tease us - they were the first primroses of 2020!!! I've never seen primroses in my garden while we were still in January of any year. This is a sort of close up of what I saw in the garden this morning. As you can see the leaves of the mombretia are already standing tall -… (read more)
Some lovely little flowers that have survived this year's awful summer
Jenny McIntyre497 visitsMy neighbour has managed to have some really good results from her gardening prowess. She and her husband are out in their garden nearly every day if possible and I can only applaud their achievements. Here are some of their gorgeous flowers.............. A lovely passion flower that is showing off it's glory climbing around their porch.......... Now their fuschias are flowering and I just love this one................ I love this two toned one too................. Man… (read more)
The flowers are gradually going..........
Jenny McIntyre2 comments125 visitsWell today is an unusually warm day, for September I mean. The sky has at last become blue, I've got a wash drying on the line, which hopefully will be dry because my tumble dryer has given up the ghost. NOT a good time to do that - only 3 days before I go away!!!!! Still there is a slight wind and the sun is warm, so there's no reason why the washing shouldn't dry perfectly. Pippin was enjoying himself on the chairs outside on the driveway, stretching himself in all sorts of contortions, as… (read more)
winter flowers Dec 2011
Christine Valin1 comment361 visitsThese flowers were shot in my garden this afternoon. It's really incredible how they grow this time of the year. I had to get my macro lens out, which I haven't used for a long time!! It made a nice change.
The wild flowers are abundant...........
Jenny McIntyre11 comments123 visits2Yesterday when I went for a quick drive in the afternoon, I went via the back roads and it was an absolute joy for me....... The wild flowers were copious and all over the place - the bright yellow of the rape seed was lining the road, making it so beautiful as if the sun was out all the time....... I suppose when it was sown in the fields, we had those really strong winds and they were blown all over the place - their loss... our gain........ As you can see - they are wonderful - I… (read more)

A Season of Renewal and Resilience
Don Sutherland2 comments766 visits5The long winter [seemingly endless autumn in much of Europe] of 2013-14 has yielded to spring. As if to shatter any lingering doubts about the seasonal regime change that has now taken place, the booming cannon of a thunderstorm reverberated across the now colorful landscape earlier today. Spring comes bearing two powerful messages. Through its remarkable transition, sometimes in the face of fierce Arctic counterattacks from retreating winter, it speaks eloquently of renewal and resilience.… (read more)
