I'm really scared about what's going on in the world - I normally stay indoors on my own anyway, so that part of the "lockdown" isn't too hard for me, but the fact that I can't go and see my daughter in Turkey, nor my son and his family about 90 miles away, is awful. I live on my own and now I feel scared in case something happens to either me or them and I'll never hold them again. I do try not to think that way, but with it being on the news all the time, it's very hard not to. The figures are too awful to contemplate and how these key workers manage to carry on day after day is just magnificent. Nurses and doctors, care workers etc are angels in disguise. Not only do they have to try and treat these poor patients, but also have to be there for the last minutes of their lives, as their families aren't allowed to be there. There will be a lot of PTSD after this ends. Then there are the people who are behind the scenes - policemen, firemen, refuse collectors, delivery drivers, road workers, caterers - the list is endless. Over here in the UK - at 8pm every Thursday - we stand outside our houses and applaud all these people who keep our country going. We need them to know that we do appreciate them and always will. They save lives, but at a risk of their own.
So I thought that I would just show some of the beauty surrounding us, in Spring.
This is my cherry blossom - and this is the view from my bedroom window......
Then there's the top lawn and today it was so warm it was great being able to have the lounge window open nearly all day....
I also have lilac trees starting to flower - both dark purple and white.....
Meanwhile Pippin decided to take advantage of the warm sun and went to lie down in the grass....
Whilst indoors, I have got a flamingo flower plant, and it's really enjoying being in the window and has grown so quickly and it has flowers on it all year round. It's not been a plant I've fancied much, but my son gave it to me a couple of years ago and it's grown on me!!! (Excuse the pun!)
I'm sorry if I've done a long blog, but I just wanted to show you that in these ugly times, there is beauty.
Please stay safe all of you, and let's all stay determined to get through these next few weeks, and emerge stronger and wiser. I do sometimes wonder whether it's Mother Nature saying to us - "Stop damaging my gift to you - or else you'll not have it anymore!"
Jenny you must promise you will not watch the news more than once a day. Less is better. Briefly to see if anything is REALLY new. Its unhealthy for you. Trust me. I only watch every few days briefly. And only the presidential task force updates. 2weeks ago we did that. My stress levels went down. When I do rant about it, its because I have seen something on the tv or online that upsets me. Its hard to block all as its so much everywhere. Try it for a day or two. You'll be better for it.
