Orcombe Point, Exmouth, Devon
These cliffs mark the western boundary of the Jurassic Coast, which is a World Heritage Site on the English Channel coast of southern England. It stretches from here to Studland Bay in Dorset, a distance of about 96 miles.

It is the only place on Earth where rocks from the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous Periods can be seen in one place, representing 185 million years of the Earth’s history. (Info from Wikipedia).

On a lovely day like this though, it's mainly a great place for family fun.

It's nice to be back after my short break. I managed to do a bit of catching up on at least one of each of your most recent photos (but apologies if I've missed anyone). Over the next few days, I'll try to catch up with some of your other photos if I have time.

So much to like in this gorgeous shot Keith! I also noticed the footballer. You caught the ball perfectly :-)) It is such a wonderful coastline, and wow, what an age it has been there! The white flowers or blossom look beautiful and the reflections of the walkers along the beach finishes the shot beautifully.

Thank you very much Rosa,.......I'm pleased you like this one. I didn't take a huge amount of photos, but I always try to get one of Exmouth beach. It changes all the time.

It's almost impossible to get a shot without people in it at this time of year, so I'm glad you didn't mind them.

This looks appealing... not a crowded beach like we had this long weekend with hot temperatures, seems all north country poured in the Algarve ...!

Glad you like this one Isabel. This end of the beach doesn't get very crowded until the tide has gone right out. It was a nice sunny day, but not particularly warm unlike whee you are.

Oh this is where my children and I used to spend many a Sunday afternoon in the summers. I used to live in Exeter, and Orcombe Point was so close to us, and of course with the beautiful sandy beach, it was a perfect place to visit. The children used to love searching the rock pools, and also when the tide was further out, you could walk around the promontory to the next beach.

A now famous bit of coast Keith. I think this bit of coast is one of our shrinking ones as the cliffs quickly disappear under the sea. A great place for the family. Well done.

Indeed it is Herb. There has been quite a bit of erosion along the whole of the coast, which is sad, but I supposed inevitable.

We always do Eunice........it's only about 10 mins walk from my daughter's house. We go no matter what the weather is doing..!!

I think you're probably right Tanja............but now it has World Heritage status people are beginning to understand.

Glad you like this photo............the beach and cliffs are only a short walk from where my daughter and grandchildren live, so I go there several times a year.
