Beach Huts in Exmouth, Devon
These rather posh-looking beach huts ( or chalets as the council calls them) overlook the road and the beach, with a view out to sea.. They have electricity and plumbing.

They are very popular and you could be on the waiting list for 10-15 years. The current annual rent is nearly £3,000 per year.

There are quite a few "ordinary" beach huts (without electricity or plumbing) available to rent for "only" around £1,400 per year. These have a waiting list of 3 to 5 years.

Personally, we're happy to sit on a bench on the promenade :-)))

I have an endless fascination with beach huts, or in this case chalets, being quite posh! They always looks so cheerful, and of course they are by the sea, which is good anyway! I love the colours and overhanging roof, which can be quite handy with our weather.

A lovely photo and I like the perspective Keith.

These beach huts are getting to be like mini bungalows nowadays and probably costing just as much too :) Very smart line-up here. I used to take a lot of beach-hut snaps and had quite a collection but nowadays I rarely see them. Thanks for sharing.

When I ws in Southwold a few years agi some of the "huts" were still renting. I had a fair bit of sticker shock then, and these ones are more high-end. My mother (who was from Norfolk) had a word for things like this -- "swainty", short for swank and dainty. Anyway, they're very attractive and your choice of POV shows then off well.

Glad you like the photo John. I love that word "swainty". I'm guessing that if you can afford to rent these, you'd have to use them every day, otherwise it's not worth it :-))

Beautiful multicolored booths. You do not specify if there is a bed inside. It could be. In any case, your rental would condition my vacation to always be in a certain place. I must admit that it seems to me a very original rental system.

Glad you like them Anton. As far as I know people are not allowed to stay in these overnight.

The rental price is very hgh..........so you'd have to use it a lot to make it worthwhile!

I think the sort of people that rent these are not to worried about the cost! The rent goes to the local council, so on the plus side it will be spent in the local community, which is good.
