The quizzical shadow stares at the drain grills - almost to the extent of taking away our attention from the dandelion-strewn l,ot, with a small accent from what looks like a discarded candy wrapper.

This kind of photo challenges the viewer to discern its inner meaning. Sometimes a cigar is just a smoke, or something like that supposedly from S. Freud.

I haven't looked up Freud's opinion of the symbolism of storm drains, Bob. No doubt he had one.

Well, I just looked it up and it is as you might expect. Ho hum. The less said about that the better.

Freud's hold on the public mind is amazing. As is his hold on the minds of psychiatrists. As most psychologists will tell you, his ideas are non-explanatory. He's old hat. An old and mouldy hat. Well, maybe some of those who stayed in the American Psychological Association when it broke up are still pushing him.

The composition is very clever. Initially the shadow seemed out of place, but when I imagined it not there, the scene seemed empty. I like the token nod to nature with the rough grass and dandelions. The discarded sweet wrapper works well in the frame as well.

What does it all mean? Not a clue! Does it matter? Not a jot!
