It works as a composition, too. Strong verticals at left, and a few more in the distance to keep the eye from following the roof lines to the lower right too quickly. And when we get there, it's an unexpected bit of garden, with a white line moving our attention left again, a bit of a zig zag. And the sprig of green at left to keep it all from being a sterile exercise.

No, I won't apologize for that bit of pedantry.

What on earth where you doing there, John! I'm glad you were because you have given us this wonderful view and shot! (I've never been to Newcastle, much to my regret!).

I was at a meeting to design a research study for a type of physical rehabilitation, Andy. It was really more interesting than it sounds.

The city centre of Newcastle is stunning. Apparently in the 19th century the city burghers decided they didn't want Newcastle to become a drab industrial city, so they all built developments in the centre that featured architecture of a very high standard. And then there are the bridges.

Now, however, I think tourists mainly go there for the big shopping mall (hmm -- same thing in Toronto).

I think people mainly come to where I live because a snowstorm has closed the highway.

Like the PiP and the view. There's a British crime show called "Vera" that we were quite fond ot. It takes place in Newcastle, but most of it is shot outside of the city, so it's nice to see this view.
