Ubley Colours

Ubley Warren Nature Reserve - part of the Mendip AONB.
The area has a long history of lead mining dating back to pre-Roman times to the 1800s and the land is scarred by overgrown old mine workings, shafts, rakes (shallow, vertical-walled cuttings through the bedrock where lead veins running close to the surface have been excavated), . and spoil heaps contouring the landscape.

The Reserve forms part of the Cheddar Complex Site of Special Scientific Interest, protected areas along the top of the Cheddar Gorge, famous for it's dramatic beauty and it's caves.

Superp rural setting Carol, love that old dry stone wall, reminds me of my uncle back in the late 50's he had a farm on Bodmin Moore where we spent our summer holidays, that had many dry stone walls like this. HFF and a good weekend for you both.
