Waldsterben: klimabedingt - Forest dieback: climate-induced

This summer was a real disaster especially for conifers on dry sites. Lack of precipitation and extreme heat caused the pines (and other trees) to die off in series, as here in a nature reserve near Thüngersheim am Main. The same fate is currently suffered by the beech trees in the forest. What will happen in the future?

Too late:(????? to do something?
cammino club has replied to Annemarie clubAll of the trees that have died...there's nothing to do about that. But perhaps there will be a positive change with climate change. People can do anything if they set their minds to it, and maybe some day we will all be involved in personally planting x numbers of trees where we live, to bring back our trees that have fallen.
The forests under the sea are in at least as much danger...the horror of what's going on down there is so bad. But they have learned how to breed colonies of corals and there is a little bit of hope.
Needless to say, it's going to get so bad before finally the world is forced to do something. Will it be too late as others here have asked...it's so hard to say, isn't it? We can only hope for the best.
cammino club has replied to Janet Brien clubFrom various comments on my pictures I have learned that the death of trees and forests is now taking place in many areas of the world, everywhere where summers have become too hot and too dry. Then, under these conditions, there are also the forest pests, which sometimes devour entire forest areas (bark beetles, gypsy moth). The German government is currently investigating how tree species from other regions of the world can be used to "combat" this new forest dieback.
But we must not lose sight of the fact that it is much more important to combat the causes of this forest extinction, namely climate change. The increase in temperature on our planet must (!) be slowed down, i.e. the cause of climate change, namely the carbon dioxide emissions of the industrialised countries, must be significantly reduced. Greta Thunberg warns us!
Goed Thema
Wünsche noch einen schönen Abend, liebe Grüße Güni :))
